Education for Nature Programme - 2015

In the first half of 2015 rhino’s energy supports the Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV) institute, which is a Vietnamese non-governmental organization working on reducing the demand for rhino horn within Vietnam. They do this through a variety of awareness raising campaigns, they run a wildlife crime unit tracking and collating wildlife crimes and working with local enforcement agencies and they work with members of the government.

The number of rhinos being killed for their horn is escalating this year, with 393 rhinos poached (up to 30 April 2015) according to official figures from the South African Department of Environmental Affairs. This figure represents an 18% rise in the number of rhinos killed in the first four months of 2015 compared to the same period a year ago. Vietnam has rapidly grown to be the one of the world’s largest recipient of both legal and illegal rhino horn from South Africa. The donation of rhino’s energy will help Education for Nature Vietnam’s vital work in demand reduction campaigns. In 2015 their work includes radio communications, and initiatives with businesses and the government, events with the general public and public service announcements (PSA’s).
